Walk a day in these authentic Hand-Crafted Hippie Sandals and you will feel as though you have stepped back into the Summer of Love.
Also known as Jesus Sandals, in India they're called Kolhapuri chappals and have been worn as early as the 13th century. Later they were made famous in America during the hippie generation of the 1960's and 1970's.
They are still very popular today for a great reason, many people feel they are exceptionally comfortable and the next best thing to bare feet! Upon breaking them in, they form to the shape of your foot for a truly custom feeling fit.

There's an "Old Hippie" secret for breaking in your new pair of sandals - To soften the leather, lightly soak the sandals in clean water for about 3 minutes, then wipe off any excess moisture or oils. You may wear them briefly as they begin to form to your feet, but if they feel slippery, let them air dry naturally instead. Do not continue wearing them if the straps feel loose or unsafe.

Ordered a 7 (men’s size 7/woman’s size 9). I am a woman’s size 9 and these fit perfectly. Soaked in lukewarm water with them on my feet for 5 minutes then walked around in the grass while it was sunny. After they dried I put organic coconut oil on them, let it soak in. SO comfortable, love the barefoot feeling..especially walking outside. Shipping is very fast. Hoping the size 7’s get restocked so I can buy a backup pair and a pair for my daughter.
Love these sandals! They do seem to run large, just make sure to measure foot according to size chart. Soaking in water and wearing until dry is a very important step for a comfy, perfect fit!
The size i ordered was to big. They had a easy return system, so I returned they and have already received they ones that fit. I love them. Total leather and high quality. Thanks so much

Trust me, I've been buying these sandals since the '70's and I know what I'm talking about. The styling is timeless. Nothing needs to be changed. Man or woman, the style is the same - this is Unisex in its purest form.
The only problem I've had over the years is finding a good source to buy them from, but now that I've had the good fortune to discover the Hippy Shop, I can truly rave about the handmade quality of these sandals.
I bought two pair for myself. They are worth every penny. Buy a pair and see for yourself.

I’ve seen these sandals before when I was a very young girl, but I never bought them so I saw them and I decided to try them out and then when I got them, I had to soak them and wear them so they could fit the form of my foot And I love them. These guys are awesome! The first pair I ordered were the wrong size (my fault), but they easily exchanged them for me. The sandals themselves, once broken in are wonderful. I absolutely love them!

I love these and have had them since the late 70's I wear them all the time. I wouldn't be without them. I order a pair for reserve frequently and its part of my main go to footwear
I was told that the closer you keep your feet to the soil without adding cushion the better it is for your feet because your feet are allowed to use its own muscles to keep the weight of your body. I can wear these the entire day, feeling bare foot, and my feet don’t ache. I’m happy I purchased these.

I have looked for these Sandals for close to 40 years...!! I wore out alot of these in my late teens, early 20's. I even received personal service from The Hippie Shop..
I'm not too good ordering anything over the web. It only took 5 days from the time I ordered them, till I had them delivered to my house. As a 71 year old hippie “classic” , I’m enjoying the memories when we were “ cool” and everyone wore Jesus sandals ! I’m so glad the internet brought me to the Hippie store . It’s nice to have someone care to keep our past alive for our future young hipsters ! Good job all !
This is a picture of my replacement pair of sandals. 1st pair the leather broke from the big toe to the arch. This was within 2 weeks even tho I followed the break in instructions. After contacting support, Hippie Shop immediately sent me a replacement pair so I threw the original defective pair out. (Can’t just hop around with one sandal).
The replacement pair, after again following instructions, resulted in the big toe stiching falling apart.
Have no intention to complain again and getting another expensive defective pair of sandals. I should have kep
t the original pair, maybe I could have made one good pair of sandals.
I wish you good luck but after two attempts, I gave up and I didn’t ask for a refund. I hope this negative review gets posted. Peace

This is my 4th pair. None of them have worn out but for some reason I want to keep a few on hand just in case. And... I really want a black pair so I will attempt to dye one of them black.
Is it possible to get them in black? If yiu do I will have 5 pairs.
I got a pair as a gift years ago and now they are the only sandals I wear. They last a long time even with my wearing them hiking and doing just about everything else in them.

I was given a pair as a gift years ago and now they are the only sandals I wear. They hold up amazing even with my wearing them on hikes and daily everywhere I go outside of work. I don't usually like having anything on my feet but, once you break these in, it's like walking around barefoot. I recommend them to everyone.
I bought a pair of these for my BF and loved them so much I purchased a pair for myself.
They do have an strong odor when they arrive. I am still in the "break-in" stage and will be soaking these in water and wearing until dry (per the hints)
Hoping this will eliminate the odor.
Overall I love these sandles and will update once they are completely broken in.
Great sandals! Couldn’t believe the quality of these sandals for the amazing price they were. Received them quickly. Did the suggested old hippy water soak and wore them around the house till dry. Fit great! Can’t wait to wear them for a while and really break them in!

The loop around the big toe is too big! It makes it harder to grip when walking but otherwise they are very comfortable and I love the look! Had a pair of these back in the 70s during the hippie days
