Born From Music, Made for Free Spirits
It all started with music, festivals and a love for the free-spirited lifestyle.
Before Hippie Shop was a website, we were out there doing it the old-fashioned way, selling cool finds at music festivals and connecting with people who shared our love of music, creativity and good vibes.
In 1995, Anthony and Christine Antonelli turned that passion into Hippie Shop, opening our first store in Kearny, New Jersey. The idea was simple: create a place filled with the clothing, accessories, music-inspired merchandise and one-of-a-kind finds that we genuinely loved ourselves.
Then came the internet.
In 1997, when shopping online was still a pretty wild idea, we launched HippieShop.com and began bringing the Hippie Shop experience to free spirits across the country and around the world.
More Than a Store
Over the years, Hippie Shop has grown from festival vending and a small New Jersey storefront into an independent e-commerce company offering hippie clothing, tie-dye, Grateful Dead merchandise, bohemian accessories, gifts, home décor and plenty of wonderfully unusual stuff you won't find everywhere else.
But we've never wanted to become just another online retailer.
Music, peace, individuality, creativity and a little rebellion are still at the heart of what we do. We work with established brands as well as small businesses, artists, co-ops and fair-trade suppliers to find products with personality and a story behind them.
Some are nostalgic. Some are funky. Some are useful. Some just make you smile.
That's kind of the point.
Still Independent. Still Hippie.
More than 30 years after we started, Hippie Shop is still family-owned and operated in New Jersey.
Our team picks, packs and ships orders from our own solar-powered headquarters and warehouse in Randolph, New Jersey, where the products you see on our site are stocked and ready to go.
We're proud of where we've come from, but we're even more interested in keeping the spirit alive for the next generation.
Whether you've been following the Dead for decades, discovered tie-dye last week, love vintage-inspired style, or simply believe the world could use a little more peace, love and individuality, you're welcome here.
Come as you are. Stay weird. Spread good vibes.
