Product Description:

Walk a day in these authentic Hand-Crafted Hippie Sandals and you will feel as though you have stepped back into the Summer of Love. Also known as Jesus Sandals, in India they're called Kolhapuri chappals and have been worn as early as the 13th century.

Later they were made famous in America during the hippie generation of the 1960's and 1970's and are still very popular today for a great reason. Many people feel they are exceptionally comfortable and the next best thing to bare feet! Upon breaking them in, they form to the shape of your foot for a truly custom feeling fit.

There's an "Old Hippie" secret for breaking in your new pair of sandals - put your sandals on and soak them in water (while still on your feet) for about 3-5 minutes. Remove your feet from the water and leave them on until they are totally dry. They will soften, form to your feet and fit like a glove!

**For the best fit we suggest measuring your feet and matching your size according to the measurements listed. Please note that your choice might be different then your regular shoe size.**

Love 'em 5 out of 5 stars

I live in Australia, and everyone here wear rubber thongs all year round and I have never owned a pair. I found these sandals in Indian shops here around 40 odd years ago and I still wear them. I'm now in my 50s. Those shops have not imported them for quite some time now, I think maybe I was the only person buying them, so I've been buying them here online. They are so comfortable, being leather. Easy to put on and take off. And they last. I soak them in warm water to get them supple, then wear them wet, until they are dry, and they mould to my feet. I LOVE these shoes !!!!!

So my dad (and mom but more so my dad lol) talked about these shoes forever and I always wanted a pair. I'm 32 years old and have all of their stuff and aunts stuff from the 60's and 70's plus my own collection. Anyways, I bought a pair of the dark brown and light brown sandals both unisex size 7, though I wear a 9 in women's. The shoes fit perfectly. I received my entire order (purse, shoes, and jewelry) within a couple of days! Couldn't be happier! I'm actually posting this review on the light brown sandals as well!

I bought my first pair at a Pier 1 store in Evansville, IN in 1971. From that time on, every spring, I bought a pair of these sandals. We called them Hirrachi sandals back then. They were the only shoe I wore during the summer. By the end of summer they were wore out but still sooooo comfortable. Back then they were much, much cheaper! I was a college student and couldn't afford very expensive shoes and these were the best!!!!
